Public Speaking

Written by Christian Tranberg

The students have been given a homework assignment this week, to compose and deliver a public speech to our class on the topic of their choice. They have been given a description of the task and a template to guide their planning. They have also been given a break-down of all the tasks they need to do to complete the project and the dates they should plan to have completed them by. Please talk to your child about the project and remind them of the due dates so they don’t leave the assignment until the last minute. The final speech will be delivered on Monday 30 August. The two best speakers will go through to the VoSS public speaking competition.

In maths this week we have been looking at the relationship between mass and volume. We weighed popcorn before it was popped and after, and found that the mass stayed the same while it increased in volume. We measured 200 cubic centimetres of un-popped corn and constructed boxes to contain it. We tried to construct boxes that we estimated would hold the corn once it was popped.
