Parents, carers and the community

As a parent or carer, you are an important part of our school community. We offer a range of services to support you and your family.

At Main Arm the P&C works closely with the school to enhance our children’s education. Being part of the P&C means having a say in decisions which affect your child and knowing what changes are on the horizon. We are involved in discussions on a range of matters from school excursions, to extracurricular activities, to fundraising, to school improvements.

We’re a friendly bunch and welcome any and all contributions large and small. Come along and get to know the other parents, and make a difference to the school.

We meet once each term and then again as required. We keep in contact throughout the year using the "Upper Main Heart" WhatsApp group as a communication tool for our P&C.

How do I get involved?

Simply come to a meeting. Meeting times are posted on the school's Facebook page and in the school's newsletter. You can also join the school's WhatsApp group called Upper Main Heart to keep up with current news and information.

Projects

In the past we have been able to benefit the school in many ways including the funding of extracurricular activities: including music; swimming and surfing and other school excursions; also the purchase of furniture and equipment, outdoor seating, library seating; arranging funding and the building of covered walkways; supporting  school through the canteen; and the donation of funds for books for the school library. In the last few years we have been fundraising for a new playground, which is under construction and we have refurbished the old playground equipment. For many years we have been the driving force behind "Music in the Valley" which is our major annual fundraising event.

School canteen

When is the canteen open?

Fridays from 11am-11.30am

What food is available?

We have a range of healthy meat and vegetarian options. For details have a look at the Canteen Menu. Orders for the Canteen are taken on Thursdays, students need to bring in a paperbag with their order written on the front and the money inside.

Can I volunteer?

Yes. Our canteen is operated entirely by parent volunteers. Any assistance you can lend either by doing a rostered day or helping with some cooking would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the office or via the school's facebook page or WhatsApp group if you are able to lend a hand.

What if I volunteer and I can’t make it on the day?

You can try and swap with another volunteer or contact the canteen manager or the school's office as early as possible.

School uniforms

What is required?

Each child will need a school uniform which consists of the red collared t-shirt with the school logo, black skirt or pants and covered shoes. A broad brimmed hat must be worn outdoors at all times. There is also a range of extra uniform options available. Have a look at Uniforms for further details

Where do I get the school uniform?

The school carries stock of the official red t-shirt and a school broad brimmed hat which can be purchased through the school office. The other uniform options are available through the school office.
