The term has flown by so quickly already and the students are settled in well now. We have been working hard understanding different types of weather and how that affects people, plants and animals. The students had a great time creating their own ‘tornadoes’ in a bottle and used these as a stimulus for their writing.
The next couple of weeks we will focus on changes in the seasons and also Indigenous weather and seasonal calendars. We have been making sure to have some ‘brain breaks’ along the way and enjoyed a space yoga stretch too! On Fridays we will start ‘News’ so look out for the roster for your child’s day – it will be sent home this week.
We have started our literacy groups in the mornings where the students rotate through a range of centres doing reading, writing and spelling activities. I am extremely pleased with they way the new Year 1s in particular are adapting to their new and larger class and working at being Oscar Organised.
Our home reading seems to be going well also and students are changing their books each morning after Buddy Reading. In maths we have been looking at place value for two and three digit numbers as well as ordinal numbers. And of course we are remembering to ‘breathe’ and be mindful.
Until next time,
